ח־ת־ן (kh-t-n) |
From the root ח־ת־ן (kh-t-n).
Verb
[edit]חיתן / חִתֵּן • (khitén) (pi'el construction)
- (transitive) To marry (a couple), to wed, to perform the wedding of, to officiate at the wedding of.
- הרב שחיתן אותנו ― haráv shekhitén otánu ― the rabbi who married us
Usage notes
[edit]- This verb is used of the officiant at a wedding, not of the couple being married; for the latter, the intransitive verb הִתְחַתֵּן (hitkhatén, “to get married”) is used.
