1. a wall, a structure built for defense around a city, castle, etc.
   • Tanach, Isaiah 62:6, with translation of the New American Standard Bible:

     עַל־חוֹמֹתַיִךְ יְרוּשָׁלִַם הִפְקַדְתִּי שֹׁמְרִים כָּל־הַיּוֹם וְכָל־הַלַּיְלָה
