זָרַק • (zaráq) (pa'al construction, passive participle זָרוּק, passive counterpart נִזְרַק)

1. To throw, to toss: to cause an object to move rapidly through the air.
2. To throw away, to toss out, to discard.
3. To dash, to sprinkle.
   • Tanach, Exodus 29:16, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

     וְשָׁחַטְתָּ אֶת הָאָיִל וְלָקַחְתָּ אֶת דָּמוֹ וְזָרַקְתָּ עַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ סָבִיב

     And thou shalt slay the ram, and thou shalt take its blood, and dash it round about against the altar.
