1. Third-person masculine singular vav-consecutive perfect (hence future tense) of שָׂמַח (samách).
   • Tanach, Exodus 4:14, with translation of the King James Version:

     הִנֵּה הוּא יֹצֵא לִקְרָאתֶךָ וְרָאֲךָ וְשָׂמַח בְּלִבּוֹ

     hiné hú yotsé likratécha v'raachá v'samách b'libó

     behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart

     נָקִי יִהְיֶה לְבֵיתוֹ שָׁנָה אֶחָת וְשִׂמַּח אֶת אִשְׁתּוֹ אֲשֶׁר לָקָח

     nakí yihyé l'vetó shaná achát v'simách ét ishtó ashér lakách

     but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken
