1. (intransitive) (He/it) grew: third-person masculine singular vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of גָּדַל (gadál).

     וַיִגְדַּל הַיֶּלֶד וַתְּבִאֵהוּ לְבַת פַּרְעֹה וַיְהִי לָהּ לְבֵן

     vayigdál hayéled vat'viéhu l'vat par'ó vay'hí lah l'ven

     And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son.

     וַיְגַדֵּל יהוה אֶת שְׁלֹמֹה לְמַעְלָה לְעֵינֵי כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל

     vaygadél YHVH et sh'lomó l'má'la l'ené kol yisraél

     And the LORD magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel
