- Third-person masculine plural vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of נאנח.
- Tanach, Exodus 2:22, with translation of the King James Version:
- וַיֵּאָנְחוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל מִן הָעֲבֹדָה
- vayeanchú v'ne yisraél min haavodá
- and the children of Israel sighed by reason of the bondage
