- (transitive) to seat (someone) on an animal or in a vehicle, cause (someone) to ride
- Tanach, 1 Kings 1:38, with translation of the King James Version:
- וַיֵּרֶד צָדוֹק הַכֹּהֵן וְנָתָן הַנָּבִיא וּבְנָיָהוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָע וְהַכְּרֵתִי וְהַפְּלֵתִי וַיַּרְכִּבוּ אֶת־שְׁלֹמֹה עַל־פִּרְדַּת הַמֶּלֶךְ דָּוִד וַיֹּלִכוּ אֹתוֹ עַל־גִּחוֹן׃
- vayéred tsadók hakohén v'natán hanaví uv'nayáhu ben-y'hoyadá v'hak'reití v'hap'leití vayarkivú et-sh'lomó al-pirdát hamélekh davíd vayolíkhu otó al-gikhón:
