[edit]Likely borrowed from Ukrainian гурто́м (hurtóm, “jointly, together”), which see спі́льно (spílʹno). Related to Polish hurt (“(n.) wholesale”), hurtowy (“(adj.) wholesale”), hurtem, and Belarusian гурт (hurt, “group”).
