Etymology

Appears in Mishnah Avodah Zarah 2:7 with uncertain meaning. Perhaps an alteration or orthographic corruption of דֻּמְדְּמָנִית (dumd'manít, gooseberry, redcurrant), which may be from reduplication of דָּם or אֲדַמְדַּם. Reintroduced in early Modern Hebrew.
