- וַיִּקְרָא־לוֹ לָבָן יְגַר שָׂהֲדוּתָא וְיַעֲקֹב קָרָא לוֹ גַּלְעֵד׃ וַיֹּאמֶר לָבָן הַגַּל הַזֶּה עֵד בֵּינִי וּבֵינְךָ הַיּוֹם עַל־כֵּן קָרָא־שְׁמוֹ גַּלְעֵד׃
- vay-yiqrá lo Laván yegár sahadutá veYa‘aqóv qára lo Gal‘éd. vay-yómer Laván hag-gal haz-zeh ‘ed beiní uveinekhá hay-yom ‘al-kén qará-shemo Gal‘éd.
- Laban called it Witness Mound (Yegar Sahadutha), but Jacob named it Gal'ed. 'This mound shall be a witness between you and me today, ' said Laban. 'That's why it is called Gal'ed.
