  1. (transitive) to destroy, remove
    • Tanach, 1 Kings 22:47, with Young's Literal Translation:
      וְיֶתֶר הַקָּדֵשׁ אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁאַר בִּימֵי אָסָא אָבִיו בִּעֵר מִן הָאָרֶץ
      v'yéter hakédesh ashér nish'ár bimé asá avív biér min haárets
      And the remnant of the whoremongers who were left in the days of Asa his father he took away out of the land
    • Tanach, 2 Kings 23:24, with translation of the King James Version:
      וְאֵת כָּל הַשִּׁקֻּצִים אֲשֶׁר נִרְאוּ בְּאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה וּבִירוּשָׁלַ‍ִם בִּעֵר יֹאשִׁיָּהוּ
