Cognate with Akkadian 𒋆𒄀𒄙𒊏 (budulḫu/bidurḫu), perhaps from Ancient Greek βδέλλιον (bdéllion), perhaps cognate with Sanskrit भिदुर (bhidura, brittle, easily split or broken).
