Etymology

Internationalism derived from English electrode, coined by British scientist Michael Faraday in 1833, first used in his Diary (laboratory notebook) from the Ancient Greek words ἤλεκτρον (ḗlektron, amber) (from which the word electricity is derived) and ὁδός (hodós, way).
