Old Armenian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]The meaning and origin are uncertain. Found only in one passage in the Bible added to անդրավարտիք (andravartikʻ, “drawers, underpants, leggings”) and corresponding to Hebrew בַּד (bad, “fabric, cloth, linen”). The Greek version has only τὰ περισκελῆ (tà periskelê, “drawers, underpants, leggings”).
According to HHB, from Biblical Hebrew בַּד (bad) used in the same passage.[1] The Armenian translator may have used a Greek version of the Bible, which had here the article τὰ (tà) + a transliteration of בַּד (bad).
Noun
[edit]տաբատ • (tabat)
