An Iranian borrowing; compare Parthian [Book Pahlavi needed] (yʾwyt(ʾn)' /⁠yāwēd(ān)⁠/, always, eternally), Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (yʾwyt' /⁠jāwēd⁠/), Persian جاوید (jâvid, eternal).
