[edit]From *մոշ (*moš, “bramble”) + -ա- (-a-) + վայրի (vayri, “wild”). See Middle Armenian մոշ (moš).

- Եւ եղիցի իբրեւ զմոշավայրի յանապատի, եւ մի՛ տեսցէ յորժամ գայցէ բարութիւն․ եւ բնակեսցէ յաղտաղտուկս անապատի, յերկիր աղտաղտուկ՝ ուր ոչ երբեք բնակիցին։
- Ew ełicʻi ibrew zmošavayri yanapati, ew mí tescʻē yoržam gaycʻē barutʻiwn; ew bnakescʻē yałtałtuks anapati, yerkir ałtałtuk, ur očʻ erbekʻ bnakicʻin.

- And he shall be as the wild tamarisk in the desert: he shall not see when good comes; but he shall dwell in barren places, and in the wilderness, in a salt land which is not inhabited.

Usage notes
[edit]In the Bible, translates Ancient Greek ἀγριομυρίκη (agriomuríkē, “tamarisk”, literally “wild-tamarisk”), but we may be dealing with an imprecise translation. See the Usage note in մոշ (moš).
