Etymology

[edit]

A ghost word found in Norayr's dictionary quoting Roszka's dictionary,[1] and hence copied into other dictionaries.[2][3][4][5][6] Most likely a literary corruption of ծարաւ (caraw, thirst) under the influence of քարբ (kʻarb). J̌axǰaxean's dictionary additionally glosses ծարաւ (caraw) as "thirst-causing serpent".[7] This is a misunderstanding of the passage in Deuteronomy 8:15, which see in ծարաւ (caraw).
