[edit]Etymology
[edit]The origin is uncertain.
According to Martirosyan possibly a substrate word connected with անթայր (antʻayr) and Ancient Greek ἄνθραξ (ánthrax, “charcoal”).[1]
According to Ačaṙyan, possibly a Georgian-Zan borrowing: compare Georgian ანთება (anteba, “to kindle”).[2]
