Etymology

[edit]

Unknown origin.

Martirosyan sees a relationship with Hittite [script needed] (akkuš(š)a, pit, hole) or 𒀊𒉆 (AB.SIN2 /akkala-/, furrow), therefore postulating an old Anatolian substrate.[1]
