Etymology
[edit]Unknown origin.
Martirosyan sees a relationship with Hittite [script needed] (akkuš(š)a, “pit, hole”) or 𒀊𒉆 (AB.SIN2 /akkala-/, “furrow”), therefore postulating an old Anatolian substrate.[1]
