[edit]Borrowed from Parthian. According to Henning, ultimately from Old Iranian *sāna-taru-ka- (“enemy-conquering”).[1] Compare Ancient Greek Σινατρούκης (Sinatroúkēs), Σανατρούκιος (Sanatroúkios), Aramaic 𐡎𐡍𐡕𐡓𐡅𐡊 (sntrwk), and Hatran Aramaic 𐣮𐣭𐣨𐣣𐣥𐣲 (snṭrwq), Iranian borrowings.
