[edit]From Proto-Permic *ȯm, from Proto-Uralic *aŋe. Cognates include Eastern Mari аҥ (aŋ) and Tundra Nenets няʼ (nyah).
Permic cognates include Komi-Zyrian вом (vom), Komi-Permyak ӧм (öm) and Udmurt ым (ym).
