Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yẹlin (udder) through the form *jẹliŋ ~ *jẹlig.[1] Cognate with Azerbaijani yelin, Uzbek yelin, Bashkir елен (yelen) and Yakut сирин (sirin).
