From *qačğïn (fugitive), from Proto-Turkic *kač- (to run away, flee).

Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (qačğïn, fugitive),[1] Kyrgyz качкын (kackın, fugitive; defector); Southern Altai качкын (kačkïn, dugitive), Uzbek qochqin (fugitive; defector), Uyghur قاچقۇن (qachqun, fugitive; defector), etc.
