From Proto-Turkic *yapïtak (without saddle).

Cognate with Kazakh жайдақ (jaidaq, without a saddle), Kyrgyz жайдак (jaydak, without a saddle), Kumyk яйдакъ (yaydaq, without a saddle), Uyghur يايداق (yaydaq)/ياۋداغ (yawdagh, without a saddle), Khakas чабдах (çabdax, without a saddle), Tuvan чавыдак (çavıdak, without a saddle), Yakut сыбыдах (sıbıdaq, without a saddle).
