[edit]Borrowed from Old Polish jedła, from Proto-Slavic *edlà, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *edlā́ˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁edʰ-l-éh₂, from *h₁edʰ-.[1][2] Cognate with dialectal Russian ёла (jóla), ёгла (jógla).
