Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *yalaŋač (bare, naked), from Proto-Turkic *yalïŋ (bare, naked), whence also яңғыҙ (yañğıź).

Cognate with Kazakh жалаңаш (jalañaş), Kyrgyz жылаңач (jılaŋac), Southern Altai јылаҥаш (ǰïlaŋaš, naked, nude), Crimean Tatar calanğaş (naked, barefoot), Uyghur يالاڭاچ (yala'ngach) / يالاڭغاچ (yalangghach, bare, naked), Turkmen ýalaňaç, Salar yalañgaş (naked), etc.
