Etymology

[edit]

From Middle Mongol ᠡᠷᠬᠡᠰᠢᠶᠡᠯ (erkesiyel, power, privilege) + ᠲᠡᠢ (tei, commitative suffix). By surface analysis, эркшл (erkşl) +‎ тә (). The root is ultimately from Proto-Mongolic *erke (power, might); the second part of the word is of unknown origin. (This etymology is missing or incomplete.
