Etymology

First attested in year 1658. Possibly borrowed from French économie, from Latin oeconomia, from Ancient Greek οἰκονομία (oikonomía). See also Домострой (Domostroj),[1] Old East Slavic икономиꙗ (ikonomija).[2]
