Inherited from Old East Slavic широ́кꙑи (širókyi), широ́къ (širókŭ), from Proto-Slavic *širòkъ, from *širь. Doublet of шеро́кїй (šerókij). Cognate with Russian широ́кий (širókij), Old Polish szyroki, Old Czech široký.
