[edit]Inherited from Old Slovak *čarodejka, from Proto-Slavic *čarodějьka. By surface analysis, чародїй (čarodjij, “sorcerer”) + -ка (-ka). Cognates include Slovak čarodejka and Carpathian Rusyn чародї́йка (čarodjíjka).
