From Proto-Turkic *čɨkanak (forearm; elbow).

Cognate with Kyrgyz чыканак (cıkanak), Karaim чыгъанакъ, čyhanak, Khakas чығанах (çığanax), Tofa чеъһенэк (če'henäk), Uyghur جەينەك (jeynek, elbow), etc.
