[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic *хво́ꙗ (*xvója), from Proto-Slavic *xvòja, from Proto-Balto-Slavic *skwajāˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *skwoy-eh₂, from *skwey-. Cognate with Russian хво́я (xvója).
