Etymology

From *oyïnčïq (toy), from *oyïn (game), from Proto-Turkic *oy- (to play; to jump).

Immediately cognate with Tatar уенчык (uyençıq), Kazakh ойыншық (oiynşyq), Kyrgyz оюнчук (oyuncuk), Southern Altai ойынчык (oyïnčïk, toy), Uyghur ئويۇنچۇق (oyunchuq, toy).

Note the parallel archetype *oyïnčaq (toy), whence Uzbek oʻyinchoq, Turkish oyuncak, Turkmen oýunjak (toy).
