From Proto-Turkic *tüĺ- (“to fall, move down”).

Verb

төшөү • (töşöw)

1. to go down, descend

   Көтөү көнө буйы тау итәгендә йөрөнө, кисен ауылға төштө.

   Kötöw könö buyı taw itəgendə yörönö, kisen awılğa töştö.

   The herd spent the whole day on a mountain foot, and in the evening it went down to the village.

   Әҙәм балаһы төҙөгән ҡаланы һәм манараны күрер өсөн Хоҙай аҫҡа төштө. (Genesis 11:5.)

   Əźəm balahı töźögən qalanı həm manaranı kürer ösön Xoźay aśqa töştö.

   In order to see the city and the tower that the children of men were building, God went down.

   • Ural-batyr (Bashkir folk epic):

     Йондоҙ һымаҡ атылып, аҡбуҙ толпар атлығып күктән килеп төшкән, ти.

     Yondoź hımaq atılıp, aqbuź tolpar atlığıp küktən kilep töşkən, ti.

     Like a shooting star, a blue gray winged horse came down swiftly from the sky.

2. to fall, drop

   Иртүк ысыҡ төшһә, көн аяҙый.

   İrtük ısıq töşhə, kön ayaźıy.

   If dew falls early in the morning, the weather will clear up.

3. to decrease, go down

   Мул иген уңышы быйыл проблемаға әүерелде – хаҡтар кинәт төшә башланы.

   Mul igen uñışı bıyıl problemağa əwerelde – xaqtar kinət töşə başlanı.

   The rich cereal crops this year turned into a problem – the prices started to decrease dramatically.

4. to get off a horse, other transport
5. to be/get painted; get photographed; be/get filmed
6. to fall on, occur

   Башҡорт телендә баҫым күпселек осраҡтарҙа аҙаҡҡы ижеккә төшә.

   Başqort telendə baśım küpselek osraqtarźa aźaqqı ijekkə töşə.

   In the Bashkir language, the stress in most cases falls on the last syllable.
