Compare with Tatar түгәрәк (tügäräk), Kazakh төңірек (töñırek), Kyrgyz төгөрөк (tögörök), Uzbek toʻgarak (circle), Uyghur تۈگۈرەك (tügürek, circle), Yakut түөрэм (tüörem, round).

The noun sense of "hobby group" is semantic loan from Russian кружо́к (kružók).
