тереклек
Appearance
Bashkir
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Synchronously may be seen to derive from тере (tere, “alive”). However, appears to have been borrowed from a written Karluk source (e.g. from Chagatai; compare the Uzbek and Uighur cognates below). The native Kypchak form in Bashkir should be *терелек (*terelek), as in Kyrgyz тирилик (tirilik, “life”).
Compare to Old Uyghur [script needed] (tiriglik, “life”);[1] Uzbek tiriklik (“life”), Uyghur تىرىكلىك (tiriklik, “life, the state of being alive”). See Proto-Turkic *dīri- (“to live; alive”) for more.
