Etymology

From Proto-Turkic *sɨŋar. Cognate with Kazakh сыңар (syñar), Kyrgyz сыңар (sıŋar, one of pair), Crimean Tatar sıñar, Kumyk сынгар (sıñar), Tatar сыңар (sıñar) / sıñar, Western Yugur sïŋar, etc.

Possibly also compare Yakut аҥар (añar).
