[edit]Perhaps from a Mongolic source - compare Mongolian чуулган (čuulgan, “a gathering”), Buryat суглаан (suglaan, “to gather”).
Compare to Tatar чолан (çolan, “anteroom”), Kazakh шолан (şolan, “anteroom”); Southern Altai чулан (čulan, “cattle yard, anteroom”), Shor шулан (“cattle yard”).
