Usage notes

[edit]

On 9 August, 2018, President Petro Poroshenko ordered that this salute replace the Soviet-era military greeting "Вітаю товариші" ("Hello, comrades").

In an extended form, this salute consists of "Слава Україні, героям слава, слава нації, смерть ворогам" (Glory to Ukraine, glory to heroes, glory to the [Ukrainian] nation, death to [our] enemies).
