Inherited from Old East Slavic семь (semĭ), седмь (sedmĭ), from Proto-Slavic *sedmь (seven), from *sedmъ (seventh), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥ (seven). Cognate with Russian семь (semʹ).
