[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic свиньꙗ (svinĭja), свиниꙗ (svinija), from Proto-Slavic *svinьjà f. Cognate with Russian свинья́ (svinʹjá).
Сoincided with свинѧ n (svinja, “piglet”), which is from Old East Slavic свинѧ (svinę), from Proto-Slavic *svinę n.
