Etymology

Borrowed from Mongolian цагцаг (cagcag, fringe), from Proto-Turkic *sačak (fringe) with /g/ epenthesis (like laghman from Chinese 拉面 (lāmiàn)). Earlier form: *сағсақ. Cognate with Kazakh шашақ (şaşaq) and Kazakh шаш (şaş).
