Etymology

Ultimately from Middle Mongol ᠰᠠᠶᠢᠨ (sayin, good, well, fine)[1] via a Turkic language.[2] Compare Ottoman Turkish [script needed] (say, pure) and Kyrgyz сай (say, outstanding).[3]
