Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Samic *ruovsē, from Proto-Germanic *hrauzā (whence Old Norse hrœrar). Doublet of рӯккс (rūkks).
Related to Finnish rauhanen. Cognate with Northern Sami ruoksi and Skolt Sami ruʹhss.
