[edit]Inherited from Old East Slavic рудъ (rudŭ), from Proto-Slavic *rudъ. Compare to Russian ру́дый (rúdyj) and рудо́й (rudój), Belarusian руды́ (rudý), Polish rudy, Czech rudý.
