From Common Turkic *bǟrkäli, from Proto-Turkic *bǟrkäli.

Cognate with Bashkir бир- (bir-, stem), Tatar бир- (bir-, stem), Kazakh бергелі (bergelı), Southern Altai бергели (bergeli), Khakas пиргели (pirgeli), Turkish vereli, etc.
