Bulgarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Proto-Slavic *ostrъgy (v-stem), equivalent to остържа (ostǎrža, “to file off”) + -ва (-va). Called so because loom's beams need to be carefully smoothen with a file in order to fit within the overall frame.
