Inherited from Old East Slavic *осмьдесѧтꙑи (*osmĭdesętyi), *осмьдесѧтъи (*osmĭdesętŷi), from Proto-Slavic *osmьdesętъ (80th), from compound of *osmь (8) + *desę̃tъ (10th).[1] Cognate with Russian восьмидеся́тый (vosʹmidesjátyj), Old Church Slavonic осмьдесѧтꙑи (osmĭdesętyi) and Old Czech osmdesátý, osmedesátý.
