From Ottoman Turkish عثمان (osman) (the Ottoman Empire in Bulgarian, османска империя (osmanska imperija) is referred to after its founder, Osman I), hence cognate with Macedonian османски (osmanski), Serbo-Croatian отомански, English Ottoman, and with many other European equivalents. Doublet of отома́нски (otománski).
