Inherited from Old Slovak okuliar, okuliár, ultimately from Latin oculāris. The differing plural form to Slovak okuliare is likely due to influence from East Slavic; compare Russian окуля́ры (okuljáry) and Ukrainian окуля́ри (okuljáry).
